            For my project, I want to examine the effects of aging/growing up, or coming of age. I want to create a painting for this project with either oil or acrylic on canvas. One of my main ideas was to have a woman looking at a mirror, on one side she is young and on the other she is aging. I feel like this can relate a lot to the fear of aging as well as the pressure to stay young and beautiful. I also wanted to represent the feeling of youth slipping away and feeling like there is not enough time. This has felt like a common theme especially with the pandemic taking away a lot of time for the youth of today so I feel a lot of people would relate to it. I think there are a lot of ways to portray this topic and I think it is very complex. My main form of expression has always been drawing but I don’t often paint and I feel that this medium would offer a challenge for me. I also think that paint can often be imperfect and I think that would work with what I’m going for.
